If there was ever such a thing as the Cutest Gesture in the entire world THIS was it. Hunter’s kindergarten class invited us to a Mother’s Day Pampering Spa at their school, the Friday before Mother’s day.

Work honestly couldn’t be busier, the Friday before our busiest week of the entire year but there was no way I could miss all of the surprises they had in store for us Moms. Some times you have to make sacrifices and this week I had a big, huge, fairly stressful to-do list to work through so that today I could leave work for a couple hours for this special occasion. It was amazing to say the least.

I have to give all of the credit to the kindergarten teachers who not only thought of this Spa Day idea, but took all of the time to prepare, provide the supplies and teach the kids what to do for their Moms. The kids were fully subservient and must have really understood their role today as caretakers of their Moms. As 6 year olds, they weren’t playing, joking or messing around. As I looked around all of the kids were fully committed to taking care of their Moms, the entire time. Sweetest Day Ever.

We had stations and spent about 20 minutes in each classroom which were designated as the Jeweler, Massage Parlor, Hair Salon, Nail Salon and the drink and snack station. The classrooms were decorated accordingly.

At the jeweler’s, Hunter made me a beautiful bracelet. He picked out my favorite colors and even found a heart shaped bead that he told me meant, I love you.

Next, at the Massage Parlor, there were small cups of lotion and the kids massaged our arms and even rubbed our backs. There was relaxing music playing and a serene landscape on the large screen. We had cucumbers for our eyes! When mine fell on the floor, and were noticeably dirty, Hunter told me, “It doesn’t matter, Mom, put them back on.” He made me laugh so hard. He was so into this!

Next stop was the hair salon. We had a goody bag with a comb, barrette and hair tie that we got to bring home. The kids styled our hair however they liked. All of the moms left their hair just however their kids did them.

Last stop, the nail salon. Going into this, I knew the kids wouldn’t be the ones painting our nails, but to my surprise, they were. There were a variety of neon colors and all of us Moms just let them do their thing. What we didn’t realize at the time was that the paint is actually peel off paint. ❤

You know the best thing that we were given this afternoon? Time. Time with our little kindergarteners, uninterrupted and undestracted. We weren’t home, there were no messes to clean, dinner to make, laundry to do, siblings pulling at our attention. Just Moms and their kindergarteners… soon to be first graders. We were in their school classrooms spending quality time together showing love the best way we know how. You guys, THIS is what it is all about! I saw boys brushing their Moms’ hair, rubbing their arms with lotion, painting nails like Picasso and Moms just taking it all in, hugging their kids and smiling ear to ear. I saw little girls making their very best bracelets, taking photos with their Mommy and serving her cookies, water and even popcorn.

I had an amazing time and appreciate my sweet son as much as I do his caring, giving, above and beyond teachers. (Thank a teacher, especially during teacher appreciation week!) I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of this community. And, I am thinking, maybe I’ll even have a couple more days like this ahead when Deacon and Wyatt are in kindergarten in our beloved school!

After we left, Hunter went with me back to work and he got to see and meet so many of my incredible colleagues. We even got to show off my new manicure. ❤
