Losing our family dog, Remi

We said goodbye to our family dog, Remi and our hearts are broken. Remi was with us through it all from moving houses, to welcoming babies home, the boys first steps, even camping, boating, gardening and more. We have a million memories with the best dog. We got Remi when Hunter was 3 months old. They grew up together and had a special bond. When he was younger, Hunter would tell others that they were twins with the same birthday!

Remi loved our boys fiercely and will always hold a special place in our hearts. I am grateful for the hundred of photos we have of him. Remi is in the background of every birthday celebration photo, holidays, get togethers and  just the day to day often being the body pillow to our boys. He was another brother and always a play mate. He tollerated the boys wrestling, riding, chasing and even sleeping on him. He was a constant in their lives since they were babies. We are grateful for 11 years together and that we have 2 puppies from Remi and Gracie. His absence here in our house is really hard and we have explained to the boys that it will take time to adjust to.

Also, we are grateful for Dr. Grant who helped us as Remi’s health failed quickly the past couple months and for helping us to take care of him finally last night. Remi had been having seizures over the past couple months and we believe it was due to a brain tumor. He went quickly and peacefully.

The boys gave him a great last day, taking him for his first ever Pup cup, took him on a walk, gave him special treats, hugged him and loved him. Remi has been pretty disoriented and confused recently and we were sure to take good care of him in his final days. Navigating this loss with the boys is hard but we will remember all of the good times we had together. ❤️

So sorry about Remi. I know exactly how you feel. Murphy’s time is coming. This post made me go back and look at the post of Brooke soon after Murphy’s litter was born (14 Years!)
